This Department is mandated to provide free public employment services and promotion in accordance with the national development imperatives and priorities in order achieve VISION 2030.
Migrant Resource Centres
The Government of Zimbabwe in partnership with International Organization for Migration (IOM) established the Migrant Resource Centers (MRCs) in Harare and Bulawayo to provide migrants and potential migrants with access to information, services and support. The MRC serves as an information hub on safe, orderly and informed migration.

- Provide counseling services to potential migrants and returnees.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information to potential migrants to make informed migration choices.
- Provide assisted return and reintegration services.
- Raising awareness on human trafficking to potential migrants.
- Provide job search services for potential migrants.

- Implementing employment promotion projects
- Development and implement employment policies and strategies.
- Design and implement programmes or projects to create income opportunities, decent jobs, and reduce vulnerability especially in the rural economy.
- Organize Labour and Employment Expo.
- Labour Market information dissemination.
- Conducting skills for employability programmes to improve labour market absorption.
- Introducing Skilling, Upskilling, and reskilling initiatives for present and future labour markets (Future of work).
- Developing and coordinating the National Formalisation Strategy.
- Promote decent work in income generating projects.
